Desires are a human inclination. There are no way to escape desires, long as you are living you will have them. But we must be careful to guide our desires, because what we desire, we obsess over, and what we obsess we eventually will possess.
We have to be careful about what we let our heart and mind continually dwell on. Because eventually something will become of whatever it is that we are dwelling on. Brush up on – 2 Corinthians 10:5, and Colossians 2:8. It is important that we not fall into the Disney line of thinking – “just follow your heart”, for the reason that the heart is evil and deceitful mentioned as early as Genesis 6:5.
When we follow our hearts alone it takes us to places we didn’t necessarily initially imagine being.
The man’s heart who is stayed on the father will be kept in perfect peace -Isaiah 26:3
God/The Holy Spirit is a sustain-er and a comforter. Whatever your need he desires to fill it. He wants to be the one on whom you rely on, not people, things, positions, accomplishments, knowledge, or any other earthly thing. He is Holy and we must respect him as such and run to him with everything.
Nothing else will satisfy once you have been in his presence… So look no further to (insert other comfort here) – which will no longer satisfy. There is only one who can fill a God shaped hole and that is the one true living God!
